Dear Freelancers,
If you ever feel like you should put two spaces after periods when turning in copy, stop that feeling.
Don’t do that. Just don’t.

So our amazing artist on SWAMP THING, Yanick Paquette, wrote an original symphonic score to express the themes of issues 7 & 8, featuring the rebirth of Swamp Thing. The only thing more amazing than that is the image that iFanboy whipped up for their article about it.
I’m proud — yes, I said proud, damn it — to be assisting on the DR. MANHATTAN and SILK SPECTRE miniseries.
The just-revealed cover for THE JUDAS COIN, a graphic novel by Walter Simonson that I’ve been assisting on for the last couple of years. Sometimes I just page through the process binder on this and sigh wistfully because it is so damn good-looking. On sale September 18th, mark your calendar / pull list / Amazon cart / etc.
LAST DAYS OF ANIMAL MAN #2. Good little miniseries, great Chris Batista art. Dunno if I’ve ever been quite so happy at my job as I was on the day the double-page spread of the Green Lantern whale came in.

A convenient roundup of all the stuff I showed off today. Though I must point out that I am not the sole editor on SWAMP THING, DEMON KNIGHTS, and WONDER WOMAN; I’m just the associate editor, with Matt Idelson steering the ship. I just jib the yardarms, or whatever it is you do on a boat, I don’t know, leave me alone.
They’re letting me take over the Twitter feed today to hype my various projects. I apologize in advance. ;-) I’m gonna be having a busy day at my desk but I’m hoping to respond to some questions, so if you’ve got any, just reply @DCComics and I’ll see if the PR folks will let me tell you SECRETS.
The other new series today that comes from my desk (I assist editor Matt Idelson for this one) is DEMON KNIGHTS, by Paul Cornell, Diogenes Neves, and Oclair Albert. You guys, this book is so good. So good, you guys. It’s just been an absolute pleasure to work on for the last few months, and I’m hopeful it’s gonna find the gigantic audience it deserves. If you like your fantasy and sci-fi with a lot of drama, but a lot of heart and some healthy doses of laughter along the way (I am looking at you, fans of DOCTOR WHO), then you are going to adore this series. Also on sale now, also sold out at the distributor, also available online at read.dccomics.com. Enjoy!
It’s New Comics Day! Two books I worked on are in stores this week — first off, there’s SUPERBOY #1, written by Scott Lobdell with art by R.B. Silva and Rob Lean. We worked our ASSES off on this book. I definitely have a bit of expectant-parent feelings with this, wondering how the world is going to treat our poor child… but so far the word is good, and I think people are really gonna appreciate the twists and turns we’ve baked into the mix. This book never quite goes where you think it will — hell, even where I think it will — and that’s gonna be its strength, I think. It’s on sale now at your local store (and it’s already sold out at the distributor, so if you want a copy, get one today or you’ll be waiting for the second print, coming in a couple weeks) or online at read.dccomics.com. I also wrote a post on the DC company blog that talks a bit about the series and working with Scott — he hasn’t killed me for it yet, but frankly I think I’ve just kept him too busy today to check it out. ;-)
Wonder Woman - Baltimore Comic-Con 2011
Wonder Woman #1 is in stores NEXT WEEK, and we’ll be throwing a special release party that Saturday (9/24) at Bergen Street Comics in Brooklyn, NY. We’ll have a limited edition “battle axe” print that comes with purchase of WW #1. Please come and help us celebrate!
OK everyone, it’s game time. The first of the five DC Comics “New 52” books I work on, SWAMP THING, is available right now at your local comic book store — or you can click the image above and buy it digitally when it goes on sale at 2PM. Here’s a great New York Times piece interviewing the writer, Scott Snyder, which also features a bad-ass double-page splash by our amazing artist, Yanick Paquette. This is one creepy book, and we’re all proud as hell of it. Hope you enjoy!
