Why You Should Have Been Watching Treme Instead of... →
The entire second season of TREME has piled up on my DVR, and I was waiting for someone to say “Oh, yeah, turns out it was really good.” And someone just did! Long weekend, here I come.

This is the kind of whining that most people delete in the morning, but: I would like, just once, just ONCE, for some guy I like who claims to also like me to NOT use my feelings as their own personal toilet. But y’know, maybe it’s me. Getting burned by two different guys in the space of six weeks does, to badly misquote Wilde, look like carelessness. Also, please welcome the...

Give me everything.
me: it's true, it's summer, that Shakira album (SALE EL SOL) could make a comeback for me
"Rabiosa" may be one of the worst, cheapest videos she's ever made
Andrew: so bad
me: she couldn't even afford to get Pitbull to show up
or, she chose not to, so she wouldn't have to make two videos
Andrew: and he'll show up for ANYTHING
Shakira, first rule of being super-famous: never let it look like Pitbull won't take your calls
that's a pretty good burn, patrice
me: Pitbull is like a designer bag: you may think it's tacky, but you have to show that you can have him
otherwise everyone ELSE gets him and you wonder why you're not invited to their parties anymore

One Week // One Band: Coming up: Kelly Clarkson →
oneweekoneband: Many thanks to Mike Barthel for his brilliant posts on Hole. You can catch up with all of them in chronological order here. As for next week—I’ve always wanted to say “Our next contributor needs no introduction” and this time, I think I can. It’s Maura Johnston! I ACTUALLY GASPED WHEN I READ THIS. Super-excited! Also, Mike, I don’t think I read every one of your posts...

YES, THIS. This long piece about a family’s trip to Disney World does more to capture my feelings about it than any other piece of writing I’ve read, though it’s still not exact. I grew up not too far from Disney World, have been there dozens and dozens of times, and it’s quite honestly one of my favorite things about Florida — how can you not be completely fascinated...

Can’t believe I didn’t read this piece years ago. So, so fantastic.
First-Listen Reaction To The Beyoncé Album
—This thing is pretty lightweight. It is very much the kind of album you make when you are thinking “Eh, I’m Beyoncé, what do I have to prove,” and “There are going to be plenty of albums after this one, might as well just call it 4, since that’s all it is, just the fourth album,” and you are not necessarily wrong to be thinking either of those things, B. ...

dcu: Batman: Arkham City gets a new trailer starring everyone’s favorite femme fatale Catwoman. Soundtracked to Lykke Li’s “Get Some.” All three of my geek joybuttons (comics, pop music, video games) just got pressed HARD, all at once.

Christ, what a day for big news — I was the assistant editor on this series, and it was one of the first projects I worked on at DC! It’s a great story, and will make a BLAZING movie. Hopefully we can get the excellent comic — by Pete Tomasi, Keith Champagne, Peter Snejbjerg, and Chris Samnee — in front of more people.
