Just kidding, he never said that. It was merely spoken by a character in one of his most famous plays, “Argh What The Fuck Why Won’t You Just Let Me Get That One Fucking Star Coin.”

Where's Willy? - The New Yorker →
I need two more posts to beat my post total for last February, which seems like a really important thing to do, for some reason. So: enjoy this Susan Orlean article from 2002, about Keiko, the orca star of Free Willy. Since we all have orcas on the brain at the moment.

How Millennial Are You? →
I got a 70, despite being, well, a Millennial. Apparently Millennials NEVER go out to see their friends after work, since they caught me on the one twenty-four hour period this week where I didn’t play video games, because I was hanging out with friends. (Actually I didn’t play Mario on Monday night either, due to a perfect storm of work-related parties, so.)
(Also, apparently, giving...

Ted Leo Karaoke Party?!?!?! →
maura:
On Tuesday, March 9 — the official day of release for the new LP/CD/digital album The Brutalist Bricks — Ted Leo & The Pharmacists will be playing a handful of songs, new and old at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory. After a brief intermission, the quartet will return to the stage to provide musical accompaniment for an evening of karaoke.

Can somebody please post a link to some kind of really long and fascinating article that I haven’t read? That would really help me out today.

Sleeve notes.
Do they make shirts and sweaters with the sleeves already rolled up, to avoid stretching? Because that is the only way I can bear to wear things with long sleeves, and it would really be practical if I could buy sweaters that don’t get ruined when I inevitably do this.

The money pit.
For every weekend like last weekend, with singing and drinking and friends and cheeseburgers, there is one like this one, where I am literally afraid to leave the house for fear that I might spend money.
I’ve resisted whining about it on here, but: things in general are not going great for me at the moment.

Fluxblog: Something Music Kids Might Steal →
Matthew’s writeup of the Fight Like Apes show we saw last night. This band is seriously, seriously slept-on. Do yourself a favor and listen to the song he’s posted — and $6.99 for the album on Amazon MP3 is a steal! They’re playing Union Hall in Park Slope tonight. Go see them. Their set is short, sweet, and intense.

I want your everything.
me: uh wait a second excuse me Hercules & Love Affair remixed "Bad Romance"?!?!?
Matthew: oh really?
me: http://www.amazon.com/Bad-Romance-Remixes-Part-2/dp/B0036I9IZQ/ref=sr_shvl_album_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1265822706&sr=301-4
Matthew: hm
me: hmmmm kind of turns it into shoe-store music
not that H&LA are known for balls-to-the-wall maximalism
Matthew: yeah, it's the same thing as the Deceptacon thing
takes out the forcefulness
me: I want a Basement Jaxx remix of that song, is what I want.
Matthew: you want a song that is up to 11 pumped up to 39
me: yes.
I want a Russian men's choir singing the chorus.
Matthew: you want a version where maybe you die at the end of it
me: The PSB could probably have a good time with that one too.
PSB & Trevor Horn
just giant brass sections everywhere
orchestra hits
car-crash sounds
the Andrew WK cover
or maybe you just bring him in to do like a super-multitracked version of the "whoa oh oh oh oh ooohhhhh" bit
Matthew: the version that isn't a song, but actually a hefty bag full of cocaine
me: yeah, cut with pool chlorine
and you smoke it out of the muffler of an eighteen-wheeler
on top of a burning building in Dubai
Matthew: the film adaptation of Bad Romance starring Jason Statham
me: and Michelle Rodriguez
Matthew: yes.
intensity.
me: that's the takeaway from this conversation, yes.

Pitchfork: Album Reviews: Hot Chip: One Life Stand →
I definitely disagree with this one — I think this album has three titanic songs (“Thieves In The Night,” “One Life Stand,” and “Take It In”) and the rest are just sort of there. The comparison to Pet Shop Boys’ BEHAVIOUR is serendipitous, since I feel exactly the same way about that album! (The three huge songs there, obvs, would be “Being...

What celebrity would play you in a movie about your life?
My stock answer for this has always been Ben Affleck, who I have no particular affection for but who looks enough like me and is not entirely un-talented. Lately, though, when guys hit on me, the #1 come-on line is “You look like that guy from Glee!”
Cory Monteith is not exactly the world’s most prodigious acting talent,...

If you had access to a time machine, where and when would be the first place you travel to?
There are two possible answers to this question, and they depend on your personal interpretation of how time travel works: If the past is immutable and cannot be changed, or if we can alter past events. I tend to personally believe that the past can’t be changed, and that everything that happened...

Have you touched Grant Morrison’s bald head? Well, have you?
No, I have not. I doubt many people get to. I’ve met Grant briefly a couple of times, but we’ve barely had any kind of substantive interaction. I don’t get starstruck easily, but I honestly do around him. Probably the whole “I wouldn’t be working in comics if I hadn’t read his work” thing. ...

So I kinda thought that Formspring would actually notify me that I had questions waiting. And I got the first notification today, two months after all y’all started asking stuff. OOPS.
