Negativity
maura:
trainwrecks:
The problem here is your absurdly narrow frame on “negativity.” You seem to think criticism = negativity. That way of thinking is naive, and I think dangerous. Criticism is not by definition destructive (ever heard of “constructive criticism”?), and it has proven throughout history to be very valuable.
You know what *is* always negative? Rampant egoism. Casual racism or...

New York Said to Plan Closing Broadway in Times... →
Now this, this is interesting. I have to say I was impressed when they did something like this to untangle the traffic at Madison Square Park and it seemed to work — it’s counterintuitive to lose that much road and yet remove congestion at the same time, but if it works it works. The new pedestrian area might run directly in front of my office later, which would be fun. Let’s see...

The Dunkin Donuts Waffle Breakfast Sandwich
…isn’t very good. I was expecting the waffle to be a bit crispier, like a toasted Eggo, but it’s much more like a microwaved Eggo. Which is weird, since I watched them toast it in front of me.
It’s basically exactly like the McGriddle, of which I was never a fan. Croissant, bagel, and biscuit are far superior sandwich foundations, I’m sorry. We got it right the first...

Oh wikipedia, what CAN’T you do? Now, to break this list down into karaoke worthy songs… so that when i sing them in front of a crowd i can look deep into their eyes (yes, all of them) and whisper forbodingly into the mic, “Let me tell you a tale….”

So the new U2 album has leaked.
Officemate permitting, I will be listening to it at some point in the next couple hours. I may liveblog my initial reactions.
I’m in a very weird place with U2 — they’d always been a favorite band of mine, but in the last few years I feel like I’ve grown quite far away from where they’re at and have grown increasingly disappointed with them as artists. (Yes, I called...

Michael Kupperman is blogging now. Please delete all of your other bookmarks, you’re only going to need this one from here on out. (Kupperman is the creator of the almost unbearably funny SNAKE ‘N’ BACON’S CARTOON CABARET and TALES DESIGNED TO THRIZZLE. Yes, there are strip samples on the blog.)
Vicky, I think this guy might be right up your alley. Maybe I’m wrong....

Fugazi "Moral ABCs"
perpetua:
DOWNLOAD IT!
Fugazi has been defunct for quite some time now, and it stands to reason that their general absence has led to a drop in the number of new people being turned on to their music. This mix is intended for people who are new to the band, and for those who may need a bit of reminding that Fugazi is and was one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Keep in mind that it was...

If there was a single warm place up there, I’d probably have moved there some time ago. They ain’t perfect by a long shot, but they’ve got a better track record than we do on a lot of very important...

I am almost ashamed to say that I would definitely make out with hot young versions of John McCain and Dick Cheney. Joe Biden, however, still wins. I’d probably make out with Joe Biden right now honestly. I’m not saying he’d get my number, but you know, we could have a couple minutes by the pool table in some bar somewhere.

Last Night's Dream
I lose a tooth that I don’t even have to begin with.
Forbidden fruit.
I have just discovered that if I drop my gym membership at New York Sports Club, which my lazy ass has barely used in the last few months, and join the 24-hour gym down the street from my apartment, I can almost afford a new MacBook with the difference in monthly savings.
This is very, very dangerous knowledge to have acquired.
